Urology is not often associated with women’s health, but during the month of May, we are encouraging women to take control of all aspects of their urologic health.
Women may see urologists for various reasons related to their urinary system and reproductive health. Common reasons include urinary tract infections (UTIs), urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, kidney stones, bladder or kidney cancer, interstitial cystitis, urinary retention, and issues with reproductive organs such as the uterus, ovaries, and vagina. Urologists also specialize in treating conditions like urinary tract and kidney infections, as well as providing care for urinary tract injuries or abnormalities.
