Fall is here, which means chilly weather, cozy blankets and changing leaves. There is nothing like a warm bowl of oatmeal on a chilly day, while you’re bundled up and sitting by the fireplace. Even if you don’t have a fireplace, this warm apple pie oatmeal recipe will bring you all the comforts of the fall season. This recipe is low in salt, high in fiber and tastes like dessert! It is an easy microwave recipe that will satisfy your hunger in the morning and keep you full until lunchtime. You can even make this a quick afternoon snack! Bring fall to your taste buds this season with this yummy recipe.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup milk
½ cup rolled oats
½ small apple, diced
1 dash ground cinnamon
1 dash ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon brown sugar
Optional: 2 tablespoons shredded coconut or granola to garnish
Preparation:
1. Combine milk, oats, diced apple, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large bowl. Microwave on high for 1 ½ minutes. Stir.
2. Add a small amount of brown sugar just before eating. This offers the best flavor and helps you avoid using too much. For a little crunch, add shredded coconut or granola just before eating.
